I loved this short novella. Even though it was short, I was able to connect with the main characters, Holly and Ryan.Ryan is your typical college guy, one night stand after one night stand. Holly has had a crush on him for years, but doesn't want to be another notch in his belt. They banter back and forth like old friends would. Holly doesn't realize just how interested Ryan is in a relationship with her. And Ryan doesn't realize that Holly has had a crush on him. After being a part for a while, they see each other at a party. Mother nature helps them along by creating a traffic stopping snow storm, forcing them to spend the night together.
The passion between them is intense, as it always is with Holly's characters. The happy ending brought a smile to my face. This wonderful book will not leave you disappointed.

A cute short story about two old high school friends who have had crushes on each. Now in college Ryan and Holly can't fight the attraction but in each of their eyes the feelings are one sided, that is until a snowstorm strands them together in his dorm room. The ending is just as sweet. I am curious if the second book is a continuation, about Mandy and Matt or something new.
This is another amazing story by H.M. Ward. This was an awesome book. Holly and Ryan have been friends for years. She has watched what he does to girls and she doesn't want to be one of them. She comes back into town not wanting to see him. Only because she doesn't think he heart can handle it. Ryan doesn't think she see's him as more than a friend. Boy are they both wrong. This story goes back and forth between holly and Ryan's point of view.
College girl Holly returns home for the holidays hoping she doesn't run into Ryan, the guy she secretly lusted after in high school. It's been five months since Holly left for college and Ryan still can't get her out of his head. Of course their paths are going to cross again, and of course they ended up stranded together in a snow storm. It all just sets the scene for them to finally reveal their feelings for each other and some hot sex.
However, as a parent of college-aged kids, all I could think was "Did she call her parents to let them know she was stranded? They are probably worried sick about her and thinking she crashed in a ditch." LOL
I just recently was introduced to H M Ward and now have been trying to read everything she's written. This was a great find! I've already read it three times in two days and know I'll read it again. A wonderful story of lust and love with a great ending. Christmas doesn't have much to do with anything except the time of year. Believe me it is hot no matter what season it is!
I don't normally read Novellas - I really like to dig into a story and with novellas I find that they are usually too short to fully immerse myself. I'm often left wanting more. That being said, I'm glad that I decided to read this one. It was a quick light read, and was just what I needed. Having read books like the Sea of Tranquility and Reason to Breathe (both of which were fantastic books), I definitely needed something that wasn't emotionally draining. This book did the trick. If you're looking for a fun quick read, I'd recommend this.(less)
Sweet young adult love story. College freshmen, Ryan and Holly find that the timing has always been wrong for them and confusion as to how the other feels has prevented them from ever being more than friends. Unable to be near him, Holly has gone out of state to college. Over winter break they find each other and fate has its way, throwing them together. Admitting how they feel is hard, but oh, so good. As break ends, hearts are breaking. Can they survive a long distance relationship? Sweet, young love.
Love this story! Holly & Ryan's story is so relatable and touching, it melts your heart. Friends first and that flame lit that neither realized or would react to. They always say you never know what you lost until it is gone.
So what happens when your best friends leaves without even saying goodbye? Then finally you see each other again. The moment is so intense and reading it from each person's perspective is what makes it that much better.
The scenes leading up to feelings coming out and the incredible sex scene make you die a little inside. Afraid to read further because you don't want it to end, and in true H.M. Ward fashion, you are waiting for the ball to drop. This is the perfect book for anyone to read this time of the year.
